Planning Ahead for the Holidays

August 23, 2013

ImageHeading into autumn, Christmas and Hanukkah seem miles away. But as it never hurts to think ahead, here are some steps to take now to ensure good cheer in the office at holiday time.

  • Mark the calendar
Do you know what day of the week Christmas is? (Spoiler alert! It’s a Wednesday.) Decide now what days your business will close, and ask employees to think about vacation scheduling.  Making adjustments now heads off conflicts you don’t need during a busy season.
  • Who’s got mail?
Having your mailing list (electronic and/or postal) tuned up now will save time later. Check that names and zip codes are complete and cull bad addresses. Watch for duplicates- sometimes two people in one household will get your mail. Holiday cards, here we come!
  • It’s party planning time!
Annual office holiday events sneak up on you.  Why not book a restaurant or caterer now? Many vendors offer a discount for booking in advance, and it will be off your plate.
  • Why decorate? Delegate!
